Dh 1,000 Fine, 6 Black points for throwing Masks, Gloves on the Road

June 23, 2021

The Abu Dhabi Police has issued a warning to commuters and motorists, asking them to refrain from throwing waste masks and gloves from moving vehicles on the road.

In a statement issued across its social networking sites, the police mentioned that those caught throwing waste out of a vehicle will be issued fine of Dh 1,000 and six traffic points in line with the UAE Federal Traffic Law.

Such type of behavior on the roads would not only harm the environment but also pose a risk to public safety as used masks and gloves (if contaminated) could further the spread of Covid-19. Carrying out such precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus is the responsibility of every citizen in the country.

The appropriate way to safely dispose face masks or gloves is to insert them in a plastic bag and then discard it into a dustbin. After handling these used items, one must thoroughly wash and sanitize their hands.
